This project consisted of the construction of the exposed skylight section of the redeveloped Westfield Knox City shopping centre.
Scentre Group engaged Standstruct to install the 483 Masslam beams supplied by Australian Sustainable Hardwoods from rural Victoria.
Standstruct leveraged our close ties with the supplier to ensure the design process was focused toward ease of installation of this complex diagrid design.
Due to the large spans required, the primary beams utilised in this structure required splicing in the ASH factory, transported to site in over-dimensional stillages, and carefully installed.
The skilled Standstruct riggers and carpenters worked closely with our temporary works engineer to create a solid methodology to ensure integrity of the splice during lift and installation.
